Ultrabooks To Spur Solid-State Drives

Solid-state data storage technology is making big inroads into the consumer laptop computer market, where hard-disk drives have ruled, says IHS iSuppli in a report released on Thursday. Solid-state drive shipments will jump 2,600% to 23.9 million units in 2012, from just 864,000 in 2011, driven by use in thin-form ultrabook portables being pushed by Intel (INTC) and Microsoft (MSFT), says iSuppli.
