Stocks Burst Higher In Solid Volume Amid Sighs Of Relief
Stocks burst higher with booming volume Wednesday on news that the House of Representatives passed the fiscal cliff bill, albeit with much kicking and screaming by Republicans. The Nasdaq shot up 3.1%, the S&P 500 leapt 2.5% and the Dow Jones industrial average advanced 2.4%. Nasdaq volume surged 40%, while action on the NYSE increased 32%, according to preliminary data. Alexion Pharmaceuticals (ALXN) and Nuance Communications (NUAN) shot up 7%
